2012 January 30 – Good to know that replacing a cracked screen on an iPod Touch 4th generation with a white replacement works out perfectly. I’m pretty pleased with the results. Now to find a case for the little guy.

Notes:
– The screws inside this thing are incredibly small!
– Got a white screen at first. Did a hard reset and restore through iTunes.
– Turned out the LCD connector wasn’t seated properly. That was the hardest part, getting that thing clicked in.
– Took somewhat longer than I expected, about 2-3 hours from start to finish, including the restoring and troubleshooting. The actual mechanical part isn’t actually that hard when starting with a nicely cracked screen like seen on the left. Just pry out a bit of glass to get the procedure started.
– There was enough clean adhesive left that I don’t think I need to add more, particularly if I put this in a case. It feels reasonably secure and it’s a little easier to open should the need arise.
